The Senate’s deputy lord of the Senate Nveboni has rejected the accusations of Victimization and sexual harassment against Senate President Godwill Akpabio as “reckless and incorrect.”
Nwebonyi, in a statement on Sunday, says Senator Natasha Akpoti-Udugan, who claims Akpabio, has a story to make similar accusations against “prominent personalities.”
He quotes a former governor of the State of Kogi, Yahaya Belo; Former Senator of Kogi, Dino Meli; And the media influence, Renault wrapped up as three persons who were similarly accused by Senator Akpoti-Udugan at various points in the past.
Nwebonyi said Natasha’s accusations usually follow a model of “wild claims, media noise and no evidence.”
“If she really believed that she was a victim of a victim because of an alleged sexual harassment incident, the appropriate forum to raise such a complaint would be Senate himself, not a television interview. The Senate has been moved from reason and laws, not by moods and drama, “he said.
According to him, Natasha’s claims were “politically motivated and attempted to avoid disciplinary action.”
Nwebonyi claims that the allegations are unfounded and conveniently aimed at diverting attention from a continuing disciplinary process against Akpoti-Uduaghan.
The Ebonyi State Senator is fucking former Senate president, Dr. Bucco Saraki, to call for an investigation into the allegations.
Nwebonyi damaged Saraki’s attempts to attract a parallel between the allegations of the purchase of cars proven by bullets against him while he was in office and current accusations against Akpabio. According to him, the two situations are different.
“Saraki’s case was for official obligations as chairman of the Senate – charges of the import of an official vehicle. It was a procedural question that was quickly resolved through the Senate Ethics Committee.
“In contrast, the allegations against Akpabio are personal, unverified and only appear when the prosecutor is confronted with disciplinary action,” Nwebonyi said.
The deputy whip, also claims that Akpoti-Nuaghan was appointed chairman of the Senate Committee on local content in November 2023, before her alleged sexual harassment in Ikot Expen of Akpabio.
“If she was truly a victim, why would the Senate leadership, under the same Acpabio, give her such a critical leadership role?” He asked.
Nwebonyi insisted that the Senate should not afford to be manipulated by “unfounded accusations”. He called on Akpoti-Nuaghan to pursue his claims through the relevant legal channels, not to use the Senate as a “stage for sabotage theater.”
“The right course of action is clear: she must first respond to the Senate Ethics Committee for her misconduct. If she believes that there is a valid claim for sexual harassment, she must bring a case to the relevant legal forum, not use the Senate and the media as a shield against accountability, “he supports.
He warned that the legitimacy of Akpoti-Ugagan’s allegations without evidence could set a dangerous precedent in which someone could raise false accusations to violate the production of the Senate.
“The Senate and the Nigerians should not fall into this sabotage tactic. The Senate must remain focused, maintain order and refuse to be blackmailed to legitimize what is obviously an opportunistic lie, “said the Ebonyi senator.
