MSP slams Scottish Government over rising A&E waiting times in Ayrshire – Irvine Times

New statistics reveal 208 patients waited more than four hours to be seen, with just 65.6 per cent treated of the 605 attending within the four-hour target for the week ending 13 October.

This was down from 67.2% the previous week and 68.2% in the week ending October 15, 2023.

Ms Clarke, Labor MSP for the West of Scotland, said: “The Scottish Government must face the facts and act now before this winter is even worse than last.

“Our specialist NHS staff are working to the limit. Without immediate intervention, the situation will worsen. The SNP must offer real solutions, not empty promises.”

The proportion of Scots waiting long hours for A&E treatment increased in the week ending October 13, with 9,641 patients waiting longer than the target four hours.

Health Secretary Neil Gray said: “Although we have the best performing primary emergency departments in the UK, performance is below the level we all want to see.

“We continue to support boards as they undertake significant work to make targeted, sustainable service improvements.

“The pressures our emergency departments are under are not unique to Scotland – similar challenges are being felt across the UK.”
