The upcoming Deepavali festivities will see thousands cross the Causeway for a short journey.
But if you’re not so keen on staying for hours on the Johor-Singapore trail, have you considered… walking?
In a six-minute video posted online, Msian netizen Irving shared his experience and how it surprisingly only took him 20 minutes to walk the entire length of the Causeway.
Starting his journey at 5:45am in Johor Bahru, Irving took about 15 minutes of walking on roads to reach the Johor Checkpoint.
After scanning his passport, Irving continued to cross into Singapore.
Is it just us or was Irving walking on a road instead of a footpath?
We also saw several cars driving uncomfortably close.
If safety is high on your priority list, perhaps the bus or train would be the better option.
Interestingly, both Singapore and Malaysia have allowed people to cross the Causeway since March 26, 2022, but there are still numerous signs telling them not to.
Irving went on to share that it took him about an hour to walk to Kranji MRT station after leaving home.
After changing trains twice, Irving finally reached his workplace at 8:14 a.m. after two hours and 15 minutes.
It was not revealed where in Singapore Irving was working, although at the end of the video he admitted that it was quite an experience.
“I can save money, enjoy the scenery and not stand in line with others for the bus,” Irving said.
“However, the downside is that it has become a bit tiring and a bit dangerous,” he added.
Irving didn’t elaborate on what dangers he faced, but we dare say one of the dangers is getting into an accident.
Also, we can’t imagine getting to work all sweaty.
Would you consider taking a walk the next time you go to Johor Bahru?
