Mother and daughter speak out after suspect accused of stabbing them arrested – News3LV

The mother and daughter who were stabbed by an unknown woman in an unprovoked attack while walking in North Las Vegas are thankful after police arrested her.

Nearly three weeks after Jas Thompson, 28, and her mother, Lynn Ramig, were stabbed on October 3, the North Las Vegas Police Department (NLVPD) said its SWAT team had arrested the woman.

“Hearing the news this morning was kind of the first thing when I woke up, it was a lot to take in, I cried later in the day,” Thompson said. “It’s traumatic and I feel in a way a lot safer now that she’s off the street.”

The NLVPD said the Criminal Apprehension Team identified the woman as 38-year-old Sinetta Harper.

The police agency said in a news release that its SWAT team arrested Harper after she refused to come out of her apartment.

The two said they wish Harper no harm, but instead will pray for her.

“We pray she gets the help she needs, even with all the confusion and pain she still harbors in her heart,” the 28-year-old said.

“If she wasn’t on drugs or if she wasn’t mentally ill, would she have done it? Probably not, she might be a good person, I don’t know and that’s what I have to look at my faith, you know that’s what I’m left with is my faith, God wouldn’t want me to hate her, he’d want me to I say hey, get her some help and that’s what I hope she gets,” Ramig said.

A family friend has set up a GoFundMe to help the mother and daughter since they have been unable to work since the Oct. 3 attack.

The two said they still have a long road to recovery as they continue to heal their physical, mental and emotional wounds.

“She took a big part of me to that day where I’m just not the same anymore, I just had to be on 4 liters of oxygen every day and have help, it changed my life a lot,” Thompson said.

Harper faces two counts of attempted murder with a deadly weapon.

She is expected in court Thursday for a pretrial hearing.
