More stores pull the Tahoe heart rate hats; Groups are distancing themselves after the comments of the founder – Reno Gazette Journal

Community stores and groups are distanced from the popular Tahoe Heartbeat cap brand after the company’s founder has published comments about children to undocumented parents.

Raley confirmed to The Reno Gazette Journal on Tuesday that the brand was removed from all its stores in Nevada and California.

Sauty Lake Tahoe Safeway and a store at Reno-Tahoe International Airport also removed the shelves from the shelves and stopped selling them.

The blow against the Tahoe Heartbeat brand was not limited to retailers. A booster club and a football club at South Lake Tahoe also pushed against the comments of the founder of the company.

Why do some stores remove the goods of Heartbeat Tahoe?

On January 27, the founder and owner of Heartbeat Tahoe Parker Alexander posted a response to Facebook on a column by Unified School District SuperTendent Todd Cutler.

Cutler is one of the warders across the country who turn to the fear that some families have, as deportation protection is changing with President Donald Trump.

Cutler writes: “Schools must be a safe place for our students. Our efforts will be to protect the rights of all students and keep them while taking care of our care. All our families are welcome in our schools!”

Alexander replied: “Since when does school’s obligation to make children feel safe at school when their parents are criminals?”

He also wrote: “Well, when illegals have children, in our school system, our systems are inherently less safe. … We do not owe these children anything.”

His post was deleted, but the screenshots of him have spread to social media.

Heartbeat Tahoe founder issues an apology as Fallout is exceeded on comments

Alexander made an apology on Monday night.

“Dear friends, family and Taho community, I want to apologize for my last comments about immigration. This is a situation that affects many people and families, and although it is a separation question, I recognize how my words were poorly articulated and hurt S

“To all who were offended, including those who commented, listen and understand your dissatisfaction and deeply regret how my insensitive message appeared.”

Booster and Football Clubs issued comments on Tahoe’s Heartbeat comments

The Southern Tahoe High School Boker Club shared on social media that he had realized “the offensive and harmful comments made by Heartbeat Tahoe, the seller, from whom we bought hats for recent money raising efforts.

“We want to be unequivocally clear: the booster club does not justify and do not agree with these statements in any way. We believe in the inherent value and dignity of every person, and we stand in love and support with all children and families to the south Lake Tahoe. “

South Lake Tahoe Football Club also turned to its partnership with Tahoe Heartbeat. The youth football club said he was familiar with the offensive statements and investigated.

“As a community -focused club, STFC is committed to encouraging inclusion and respect through the play of football. We stand against any form of hatred and will not be filed in line with companies that do not reflect our values.”

Raley’s was one of the first stores to pull the goods of the heart rate, which is transferred to many other states.

“The products have been removed from all stores,” said Raley’s Vice President of Community and public issues in a text message from Chelsea Mall.

An employee of South Lake Taho Rally told RGJ on Monday: “Many people are damaging their product.”

A 1020 Johnson Lane Safeway employee at South Lake Tahoe confirmed on Tuesday morning that Heartbeat Tahoe’s hats are no longer available for sale at the grocery store.

Heartbeat Tahoe’s hats were also removed at Renault-Taho International Airport.

The hats were sold at the Vino Volo Restaurant market at the airport. They have been downloaded since then and have no longer sold on the spot, a spokesman at the airport confirmed on Tuesday afternoon.

Alexander did not respond immediately on Tuesday for comment.

What is the Tahoe Heartbeat brand?

Heartbeat Tahoe’s hats are part of the Heartbeat brand, which Alexander founded in 2017.

The Heartbeat Tahoe logo has an outline of the Tahoe Lake, joined by an EKG model to indicate a heart rate that Alexander says, for the first time, has become a hat in the summer of 2016.

In addition to the Heartbeat Tahoe logo, the company also sells hats aimed at different countries. These include branding as a heart rate in Nevada, California heart rhythm, Hawaii Heartbeat and Alabama Heartbeat.

In general, the Heartbeat brand starts about 25 logo collections and hundreds of styles, according to the company.
