More record heat for the southern plains – KCBD

Lubbock, Texas (KCBD) – The unreasonable heat continues in my prediction of Western Texas and East New Mexico. I expect more record maximums with temperatures reaching 20 to nearly 30 degrees above the average for the time of the year. Much more spring than the winter model for our area.

The work week starts mostly sunny with a light breeze, west to about 10 to 20 mph at times. My forecast for today is 28 degrees above the average and six degrees above the record high for the date. Much more typical in mid-May since early February. The average high level of Lubbock from February 3 is 58 °, the record high is 81 ° (2021).

A few sprinkles or a short light rain shower are possible on Tuesday night at the beginning of Wednesday. The chance of a measurable rain is quite thin.

Temperatures will make a slight immersion on Thursday before heading close to record levels on Friday.

The cool air will start to return to the area on Saturday, with a significant drop in temperature early next week. It’s a little too early for details, but it seems that the spring model of this week will be replaced by a more typical model for the winter.

A light breeze today and at times this week. There is no big wind event at the moment.
