Montage – The Montague Fighting team divided three meetings against Whitehall and Fremont on Monday.
Wildcats fell on Whitehall 60-15 but removed the Fremont 58-22.
“I thought we were fighting well against Whitehall, given the result,” said Montague coach Christopher Madox. “At one point we were ahead of 15-3, which was a good start.”
Fletcher Tomen went 2-0 and scored his 100th career victory.
Michael Jones recorded two wins as he continued to grow for Wildcats.
“Jones is just a fighter from the second year, but as a football player he wears great hips to fight,” Madox said. “He grabs quickly and works hard. I think Multi sports athleticism really helps him. “
Ava Pelton was also unbeaten, including a match in which she intervened on the injured Caiden Jeffrey against Fremont and received a pin over Packer.
“In general, I think we’re starting to find our channel a little and the kids come at the right time,” Madox said. “I like our aggressive mentality over the last few duals.”
Montag (17-7, 4-1 WMC-Lakes) visits North Muscuggon for Four on Wednesday.
