Mississippi suspect accused of stealing money, impounded car from man at Baton Rouge hotel – Yahoo! Voices

BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPRUD) — A suspect from Mississippi was arrested after he robbed a Baton Rouge man at gunpoint in a hotel room.

Travis White, 41, of Natchez, Mississippi, was arrested on charges of armed robbery; use of a firearm and theft of a motor vehicle on October 18, 2024.

Police said in June 2021 that a victim was using the dating app Skout when he met a woman named “Trina.” White reportedly identified as a woman on the dating app. Acting as Trina, White told the victim that he would be in Baton Rouge on June 13, 2021.

The victim and White met at a motel located on Florida Boulevard around 11 a.m. on June 13. Police learned the victim and White were talking in the hotel room. White left the room to take a phone call. When White entered the room, they pointed a gun at the victim, forcing him to remove his pants. The victim had about $150 in cash on him. White stole the victim’s money as well as his car.

According to the affidavit, White was arrested June 20 in DeSoto County, Mississippi, for possession of a stolen vehicle. White told authorities he got the car from the victim.

On June 24, detectives asked the victim to identify “Trina” in a group of six people, where he was able to identify White as “Trina.”

White was arrested and booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish Jail. No bond amount has been set, according to jail records.
