A missing 12-year-old boy was found dead in Virginia Beach three days after he disappeared until he went to a friend’s house.

Amber signaled to Juan Sebastian Mejja Asevedo was issued early on Saturday, January 25, according to Virginia State Police.

The Virginia Beach Police Department said Juan was last seen by his parents around 9am in the local time in the 200 block of Avenue Mika on Friday, January 24th.

Juan’s parents called the police around 9:00 pm local time on Friday when he did not go home from a friend’s house, according to police.

The boy’s body is drawn from a pond near Cornerstone Apartments near Southern Independence Boulevard in Virginia Beach around 1:00 pm on Monday, January 27, the CBS WTVR branch reported.

It is reported that the pond is close to the address where Juan’s parents last saw him.

Jenny Asevedo, Juan’s mother, told NBC Wavy-TV’s branch that she allowed her son to go to a friend’s house from 2:00 pm to 16:00 to do homework, but he never arrived.

Police said the case was treated as a possible abduction after authorities learned that Juan’s parents may have received ransom notes.

Juan’s mother told Wavy-TV that she had received messages while on Facebook live while asking others to help find her only child.

“They made me go to a nearby Walmart and ask for money,” Jenny recalls, noting that she had paid $ 500. “I didn’t give the full amount, just a part of it.”

Virginia Beach Police Police Chief Paul Needgate said there was no additional communication after the initial payment, according to WTVR and ABC Wvec branch.

“One of our theories is that it was a fraud, immortalized in the family … But we would be negligent if we did not treat it as a real threat, actual abduction, until we understand otherwise,” Neudigate said.

Neudigate said it was too early to say what caused the boy’s death. It is unclear whether an investigation of killings will be opened.
