Miami man shoots ex-wife 4 times near Kendall, then surrenders in Hialeah, cops say – Yahoo News

The violent end to an argument at a home north of Kendall involved a Miami man who pulled out a semi-automatic handgun and shot his ex-wife four times after pushing her through a locked door.

That’s according to the arrest report for Pedro Nunez, the 47-year-old Little Havana resident arrested Sunday in Hialeah, where he surrendered to city police four hours after the shooting. The report said Nunes waived his right to remain silent and told Miami-Dade police how he believed he killed his ex-wife.

Nunes’ ex-wife survived, police said, and was hospitalized in critical but stable condition. She was scheduled for another surgery on Monday.

Nunes was arrested on a charge of attempted aggravated murder.

Blood on the floor

The house in the 6200 block of Southwest 109th Avenue is supposed to have only one residential unit, according to Miami-Dade property records. But the arrest report said there was an efficiency suite on one side of the house, and when that occupant came home at 3:35 a.m. Sunday, he opened his door and found “a large amount of blood on the floor.”

Seeing the front door of the main house open, he left the house and called the police. Miami-Dade police said they found Nunes’ ex-wife, the mother of their 10-year-old child, in her bedroom, shot multiple times.

“As she was walking in and passed out, (she) was able to say her ex-husband’s name and told them he had shot her,” the arrest report said.

While Miami-Dade EMS took her to a hospital, Hialeah police called Miami-Dade police to say a shooting suspect had turned himself in.

Nunes, the arrest report said, admitted to shooting his ex-wife in the hallway of her home near the interior office door, “which was locked and bolted.”

Nunes “advised to shoot her approximately four times and stopped when her body fell toward the door, causing it to open and the victim to fall into the efficiency,” the arrest report said.

Nunes left and “called his father telling him he shot and killed the victim.”
