Metropolitan Police criticized after a person jumped to his death at the Irvine Times

The 68 -year -old Peter Jones boarded a flat hood on a telephone cabin at Stoke Newston Police Department in East London before jumping on the concrete floor.

He suffered devastating injuries and died shortly after.

Before the incident happened, Jones had written a suicide note and swinging back and forth and talked to himself, but none of his behavior was noticed by officers investigating his death.

His actions were captured in CCTV.

“We conclude that if these actions were seen, it is more likely than not that the police would take action and prevent his suicide,” the judge of the investigation has identified.

Several police witnesses also told the investigation that if they saw this behavior, they would intervene.

The jurors highlighted the poor positioning of CCTV monitors in the rear office of the station and lack of police staff located in the box – the area facing public reception.

“During his time at the Stow News Police Department, CCTV shows that G -n Jones shows enough behavior to point out that he is an immediate danger to himself, which, if seen by police staff, would lead to An action that would probably prevent his death, ”the sentence reads.

The senior coronary for the Inner North London, Mary Hassel, sent a report on the prevention of future MET deaths, warning that future deaths would occur unless action was taken.

D Jones spent about 6pm in the public waiting area at the station before deciding to jump from the stand in November 2022.

The jurors decided that he had died of suicide.

The investigation earlier this month heard that the telephone cabins of the station had already been replaced, but the jurors ruled that there was a “failure” to maintain “sufficient supervision of the public acceptance area” by MET.

“I heard that every police department has a different geographical layout and that some of them are old buildings,” said Gia Hassel.

“However, a senior policeman who gives evidence, accepted that the station’s employees could be positioned … facing the public zone, not further in the office, facing each other.

“The jury noted that without the presence of a flat garnished phone hood, there would be no resources to take its life that way.”

Any other of the metth stations from the broom stations, the coroner said.

“In my opinion, action should be taken to prevent future deaths and I believe you have the power to take such actions,” she told The Force.

Scotland Yard will have 56 days to respond.

In 2022, former Bradley Francis officer was closed for theft of £ 1,500 from a safe at the police station.
