Mercy Gilbert Medical Center has recently received national recognition from the Leapfrog Group, a National Health Organization to serve as an exceptional teaching hospital.
The Dignity Health Chandler Regional Medical Center was also recognized. The two medical centers for Dignity Health East Valley were the only two hospitals in Arizona to make the list.
“I am incredibly proud of our teams at Chandler Regional and Mercy Gilbert, which are dedicated to providing expert care to our patients and their commitment to mentor the next generation of healthcare providers through our medical education programs,” Roger Bess, Health in a message from East Valley Gme has designated an institutional employee and Executive Director of the Academic Affairs Office.
The Dignity Health East Valley GME program for the first time launched in 2023 and offers programs for a medical residence in several specialties; Emergency medicine, family medicine, internal medicine, general surgery, as well as obstetrics and gynecology, which will welcome its inhabitants this July.
More than 50 residents have the opportunity to participate in clinical rotations in Mercy Gilbert and Chandler Regional, to train at other health care facilities throughout the valley and to receive practical experience in rural and tribal communities.
“Dignity Health East Valley offers a competitive GME program that allows medical residents to understand and meet the needs of healthcare for fast -growing communities in Chandler, Gilbert and outside,” Besse said. “Through individualized mentoring, our medical residents witness first -hand compassionate care, which we hope to carry with them throughout their careers.”
Dignity Health East Valley will celebrate the Day of the March 21st, a long -awaited event where the resident candidates learn about the GME program in which they are paired. This class of residents will start their journey GME in July.
The appointment of the best hospitals of Leapfrog Group is awarded to facilities with the best results that are committed to preventing drug errors, higher quality maternity care and lower infection rates, among other criteria.
The award is awarded to hospitals in four categories; Teaching, general, rural and children’s hospitals that meet the methods of studying the group.
