Mental Health awareness event coming on LSU campus on Wednesday – WBRZ

Baton Rouge – the event for planting hope for a mental wellness will be central on Wednesday, February 12, in the center of Maravic in order to bring awareness of the mental health in the forefront of everyone’s mind.

The rain will bring the Flowers Foundation with LSU and others hope that one night of discussion and education can continue to disturb the stigma surrounding suicides, mental health and the presence and opportunities to receive mental health assistance.

This will be the second consecutive year, which LSU hosts the event designed to normalize conversations about suicide, mental well -being and the importance of receiving help or recognizing the signs of need for mental health.

The event began as a way to go through the pain of losing a teenage son for suicide for Jordan Tabor and his family after his 15 -year -old son Owen took his life just days before his 16th birthday.

Jordan Tabor has partnered with Senior Athletic Director of LSU Shely Mullenix, who manages the health and well -being of a tiger athletic program to show that no matter what your external appearance may look like, everyone can deal with mental health problems.

The Tabor’s Rain Foundation will bring Flowers Foundation has made part of its mission to train young adults for having a mental health awareness resources with school programs throughout the country.

The event on Wednesday will include a panel organized by former LSU Tiger football and current ESPN analyst Ryan Clark.

Clark will talk to a colleague of Tiger footballer DJ Chark and his own Emma Benoit in Holland, who is experiencing her own suicide attempt and is now talking around the country, encouraging the awareness of mental health.
