Men’s tennis plays a marathon battle in Florida, 4-2 – Uncwsports.com

Gainsville, Florida – – UNCW’s men’s tennis made a racing effort against Florida, but Seahawks fell on Gators, 4-2, in a three-hour, 15-minute marathon at Alfred A. Ring Tennis Complex on Sunday. Seahawks dropped to 1-1 in the season until Florida improved to 3-2. Gators ended last season, ranked just outside the top 25.

Four of the five single matches went all three sets, with the UNCW asking for two wins after the first set was dropped.

Joseph Wend Open from his debut weekend with another back win in #3 singles, beating Henry Jefferson 4-6, 6-3, 6-4. Jefferson has been ranked 106th in the single competition from December 3, 2024.

Sam NicholsonThe senior transfer from UNCA won his first win in the team competition as Seahawk vs. Adhithya Ganesan in #2 singles. After dropping the starting set 1-6, Nicholson asked for the last two sets 6-3, 6-3.

Harold Huens & Lucas Stefen Open 2-0 weekend in a double game, beating #76 Kevin Edengrene and Jeremy Jin, 6-3, in #2 pairs.
