Boise, Idaho – a new memorial in honor of five aviators of the National Guard of Idaho, killed in two helicopter crashes, was dedicated on Sunday, February 2, in Julia Davis Park in Boyz.

The Memorial “The Window to the River”, created by the sculptor Benjamin Victor, has a falcon in natural size and Blackhouk-presenting the signs of the calls of the two crews of the helicopter-adjusting with an American flag.

The memorial commemorates the main officers of the order Stiien P. Gearhart, John L. Hartwe, Jesse Anderson, George “Jeff” Laubhan and Matthew Pelzer, who lost their lives in separate catastrophes in 2014 and 2021.

“This creates a dynamic connection, invites viewers to reflect on the victims made by these people in defense of our freedoms,” Victor said.

The sculpture depicts the birds in a “solemn flight”, symbolizing the undigested spirit of aviators and dedication to the service.

The family members cooperated with city officials to bring memory. During the Sunday dedication ceremony, members of the service joined families and friends to honor the fallen aviators.

“I thank family members who worked tirelessly with the city’s employees to make this memorial a reality. We hope to serve as a lasting place of peace, reflection and memory,” said the city.

The memorial serves as a testimony to the victims made by members of the National Guard who have lost their lives in service in their country.
