The Seattle Police Department called on one of his dogs.

In a publication by his Blotter, SPD introduced “Ryan”, a 4 ½-year-old yellow English Labrador Retriever.

“Ryan is a comfortable dog appointed to a detective in the Sexual Association and Violence Division,” according to the publication. “He came to Seattle in 2022 from an organization in New York called America’s Vet Dogs.”

Ryan’s job is to comfort those who go through the process of criminal justice related to sexual assault and investigations for violence against children. He sits with casualties during their interview with police officers.

“Ryan also attends court hearing and sentences, allowing people to see it throughout their journey in the search for justice,” the publication said.

During one process, he sat down in the position of witnesses, as a 16-year-old testified against one of their parents in a domestic violence case.

This month, Ryan’s work maintained him more loaded than ever. He comforted the victims during two interviews for adults and four interviews for children.

Ryan has participated in more than 75 cases in support of adults and children.

“When he does not provide active support to those in our community, most days Ryan can be found to sleep under the desk of his appointed detective, often snore away. His loving presence in the office also helps the detectives that do this important job, “SPD said.
