Dallas star Maericks Kiri Irving says she is in the “grieving process” after the shock news over the weekend that the team has traded Luca Donchic to Los Angeles Lakers.

In one of the most stunning deals in the history of the league, Mavericks sent Doncic, Maxi Kleber, and Morif Morris to Lakers in exchange for Anthony Davis, Max Christie and Los Angeles in 2029 for the first round.

And when we talk after the loss of Dallas to Philadelphia 76ers on Tuesday, Irving admitted that he was “really shocked” when he understood the news of trade, like the bigger part of the NBA community.

“You just don’t imagine that you will get ready to fall asleep and then find such news,” Irving told reporters after scoring 34 points in 42 minutes with a loss of 118-116 for 76ers. “It is still a grieving process at the moment. I miss mine Hermanno (“Brother” in Spanish).

“We had a lot of time together (Marif Morris) and Maxi (Kleber) and just built some connections that go beyond the basketball court. So, if one can understand at home, so if someone or a few people leave in a trade, it will be difficult and that is what we are dealing with now. ”

Irving (right) will now be the main source of crime for Maverix after Doncic's departure.

To Tim Bontms of ESPN, which was on Tuesday in Philadelphia, every question posed to Irving focused on trade with Doncic and no one was asked for the defeat.

Irving continued to explain that he dreamed of playing with Davis in 2018 when he was with Boston Celtics, as well as leading Kevin Durant to Massachusetts, but never happened.

The 32-year-old also admitted that while trade is shocking, it is also part of life in the NBA.

“This is above my pay assessment and I just have to adapt and be ready to meet in my new teammates with open arms and look ready to return to Dallas to speak to our fans,” ” -” -” Erving said.

“I know they feel it too. And I feel it, guys. So, yes, it’s just a correction period. And I don’t want to downplay this or ignore our new guys. They will help us win and help us build in the championship, but just like everyone else at home, when you see it from afar, it hurts. ”

He added: “This is a strange case in the history of the NBA to be a part, but at the same time it is the nature of our business and it is a ruthless business. So you have to be ready to take the pieces and run to the championship. This is the best goal and why I play, and the presence of other guys who are winners in the championship also helps.

“But at the same time, we still have to admit that our small Slovenian president is no longer here and we must adapt.”

After the defeat on Tuesday, Mavericks have a record 26-25 and sit outside the playoffs of the Western Conference.

At his opening press conference by Lakers Doncic, he acknowledged that he was stunned by trade.

Doncic was on the bench for the Lakers' game against Los Angeles Clippers on Tuesday.

“Everyone was surprised, so you can imagine how surprised I was,” said the Slovenian. “I almost slept. So when I called, I had to check (whether) was on April 1, I didn’t believe in the beginning at first.

“It was a big shock. It was difficult times for me. (Dallas) was home, so it was really difficult for me, especially the first day. ”
