LAREDO, Texas (KGNS) – Hundreds gathered to show their support for U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz, who is running against Democrat Colin Allred for the seat.
On Wednesday, Oct. 23, Cruz made the 24th stop on his campaign tour days before the election. The event was held at the Palenque Grill, where over 200 Laredoans filled the room.
Cruz focused on three key points during his presentation; jobs, freedom and security for Texas.
Cruz then touched on the foundation of the new 4/5 bridge that will be built in Laredo, saying he played a key role in securing the permits and how these bridges will generate thousands of jobs for the community.
He also mentioned the constitution, claiming that Democrats have tried to suppress the second amendment, which is the right to keep and bear arms.
Cruz then raised the issue of border security, thanking the Border Patrol for their hard work in securing the border.
KGNS was able to speak with Cruz after the rally about his message to voters.
“When it comes to the border, I’ve worked hand-in-hand with President Trump to secure it. We have achieved historic success with the lowest illegal immigration rate in 46 years,” Cruz said.
Cruz was first elected in 2012 and is currently serving his second term, which will end in January 2025.
He then concluded his speech by asking his supporters to participate and donate to his campaign.
Cruise will continue his tour by traveling to Houston.
