Garden City, KS – Manhattan Hay did something last year’s team of the State Championship did not do. Earn a regional championship. Going to the tel of the two -day tournament in West Kansas, the Indians won the regional title on the 6a west over the Team Point Garden Garden City One. Plus, qualifying 12 fighters for state and four who have won individual regional titles.
Manhattan won as a team with 254 team points. The 2nd place Garden City had 253 points. The rounding of the top five was rural, corn and Lawrence.
The first individual regional title went to junior Cameron Konrod with 126 pounds. 2nd in his career. It is not 39-7 this season. Two -time state champion Caeleb Hutchinson won his 132 pounds bracket for his second career at the regional championship. Improving your record this season to 42-1. With 150 pounds, Senior Logan Lasterman won his first career regional. He is now 32-7 of the year. Finally, sophomore Max Evans-Prior won his first regional with £ 175 and moved his record to 40-6.
The State Tournament 6A is on February 28 – March 1 at the Aventhealth Sports Park in Overland Park.
