Man dies in suspected DUI crash in southwest Las Vegas Valley – AOL

LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — The Clark County Coroner’s Office says a 34-year-old man has died after being struck by a vehicle in the southwest Las Vegas Valley two weeks ago.

On October 24, at approximately 11:30 p.m., the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department responded to a crash at the intersection of West Flamingo Road and Cameron Street. Evidence at the scene indicated a Ford Maverick was traveling westbound on Flamingo and a man was crossing northbound near a marked crosswalk.

According to police, the front of the Ford struck the man’s right side, throwing him forward onto the roadway.

The driver, identified as Jonas Villaverde, 60, showed signs of impairment and was arrested and charged with DUI-related offenses, police said.

Police said the man, who was crossing near a marked crosswalk, was taken to a nearby hospital. He was pronounced dead a few days later on October 27.

The man’s death marked the 131st traffic-related fatality for the LVMPD in 2024.
