MIAMI – A man died after falling from a motorcycle Friday in northwest Miami-Dade County.

According to Florida Highway Patrol troopers, the motorcyclist landed in the southbound lanes of the Palmetto Freeway in Hialeah Gardens.

Fire Rescue personnel responded to Palmetto, or State Road 826, near Northwest 103 Street, and took the man to Jackson Memorial Hospital’s Ryder Trauma Center.

FHP temporarily closed four lanes while it investigated what caused the motorcyclist to lose control and crash around 11:30 a.m.

Around 1:40 p.m., there was a massive traffic backup. The motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the hospital, according to FHP.
