Man awaiting trial in Baton Rouge slaying free after apparent mistake, authorities say – The Advocate

A man facing murder charges in 2023 was reportedly mistakenly dropped off at a Baton Rouge Greyhound bus stop Friday by East Carroll Parish authorities.

Christopher Davis was arrested in January 2023. in connection with the death of Deandre Duncan, 37, who was killed in an altercation on December 10, 2022. in the 8800 block of Edwin Street in Baton Rouge.

Davis has been held at the East Carroll Parish Detention Center since Dec. 5, 2024.

According to a spokesman for the East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Office, Davis was dropped off at the Greyhound bus station by authorities at the East Carroll Parish Jail at noon Friday along with a group of Department of Corrections inmates scheduled for release.

Davis was not scheduled for release or transfer at this time. East Carroll Parish officials alerted EBRSO to the apparent error later Friday.

Davis is wanted by multiple agencies, including the U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force.

Some of Davis’ family gave authorities the impression that he intended to turn himself in, but as of Saturday night he was still at large.

Authorities at the East Carroll Parish Detention Center could not immediately be reached for comment.
