Main stormy systems for bringing rain, snow in the west; Seattle and Portland can get the first snow – Yahoo! Voices

A significant, prolonged model change will bring many days of rain, and snow with lower northwest elevations, including the first snow of the Seattle and Portland season. The south threat of heavy rain caused the floods to be issued in Northern California, including the San Francisco Bay region.

Last radars and signals

The wet and snow meteorological model is underway to the northwest, as the first of two storms moves inside. Currently, the most concentrated rain and snow group is located above Northern California. Below is to look at the most radar in the region.

Winter watches and warnings are limited to the higher elevations of the cascades and rocks, but these signals will probably expand to the more low hills over the weekend when a cool air arrives. This will reduce the levels of snow and can remove snow or a mix of rain and snow in Seattle and Portland, which will be the first flakes of the season in these cities. The effects should be minimal at the lowest height of 1000 feet. Winter weather conditions are likely to be reduced to the levels through the cascades and coastal mountains.

Upcoming week

A system will park along the coast of Washington and keep the colder rain and showers over the northwest, as the atmosphere river continues to soak northern California.

The snow will be heavy at times from Sierra to parts of Oregon and Idaho. Wind gusts over 80 miles / h are possible through Sierra’s combs. Roads and road closure, including the Interstate 80, are possible.

Floods and landslides can become a problem for northern California due to the prolonged nature of this meteorological model. This system may remain stuck there in Midwek.

The effects in the lowlands of the Interstate 5 corridor should be minimal during the early week.

By Tuesday or Wednesday, at least some rainfall could reach south of the Los Angeles subway area. This may offer temporary relief from the threat of fire, but it will not extinguish the land in southern California.

Rain and snow

Several feet of snow are likely throughout the cascades and sierra, as well as in the northern rocks.

Some lowland cities, including Seattle, Portland, Boyz, Idaho and Medford, Oregon, should see a lighter snow during this period. These snowfalls are probably on the more light side.

More than three inch amounts are expected for rainfall at the foot of Sierra Nevada and in northwestern California. Lower hills in the bay area could see 1 to 3 inches of rain over the weekend. These areas are of the greatest chance of flooding over the weekend.
