We have some FREE Trick or Read Comics (While supplies last) and you can still take advantage of our $1 Comics Sale: Buy One $1/Get FOUR Free! (That’s FIVE comics for $1!!!)

This is a great opportunity for kids and adults alike to celebrate the holiday in a non-candy way (you can always do it later at Trunk-or-Treat).

Star Comics has been Lubbock’s original independent comic book store since 1977 – providing generations of readers and fans with a place of discovery and community. this is beautiful

Let me take this opportunity to tap into my comics box and children’s literacy, one of my favorite topics as someone who once worked in a library.

Comics have been shown to improve literacy in both children and adults and are also an excellent way to promote literacy in a second language.

According to Seeds of Literacy, comics promote literacy in several ways, including providing strong motivation for dialogue-driven reading (great for second language learners) and providing a great method for improving reading comprehension by pairing images with text.

By interacting with both the text and images, the reader can easily understand and visualize the story. The more they do this, the easier and faster they can build their reading comprehension skills.

I recommend pairing this event with another longtime local business favorite – Ralph’s Records. Ralph’s will be hosting its first Fall Festival on Saturday from 10am to 8pm, giving you plenty of time to stop by both.

Ralph’s will have giveaways, food trucks, pop-up shops, giveaways and special sales throughout the day.

Ralph’s AND Star Comics? Lubbock truly has some amazing cultural gems that make me proud to live here.
