Lubbock didn’t come in as number one overall, but it had its numbers maintained in one category.
Lubbock on top
You might not think “Lubbock” when you think of Halloween. Heck, I run a Halloween attraction here and I don’t think of “Lubbock” when I think of Halloween. I think the city is getting better and I see more and more Halloween decorations every year.
The survey
Wallethub just released a survey on the “Best Cities for Halloween.” Lubbock was far from the top, but far from the bottom because of one of three major categories. Cities were rated on “Trick or Treat Friendship,” “Halloween Fun” and “Halloween Time.” Each of these categories was then divided into various subcategories. As with any Wallethub study, the metrics are pretty undeniable.
The victory
Lubbock took first place out of 100 cities in the Halloween Time category. I have to agree, Lubbock has some cool but not too cool nights right around Halloween that make almost any activity a little better. In fact, right now the Halloween high is expected to be 73 degrees, which means somewhere in the mid to low 60s in the evening.
Lose
Lubbock didn’t do so well in the other two categories. I can’t talk much about the Trick or Treat Friendship topic, but I can talk about the Halloween Fun category. Again, I co-own a wildly successful Halloween theme park here, but this is an oasis in a sea of nothing to do.
