LUBBOCK, Texas (NEWS RELEASE) – An investigation is underway by the Lubbock Police Department’s Major Crash Unit following a collision in North Lubbock that left two people dead.

Lubbock police were called to the 4800 block of North Interstate-27 at 8:37 p.m. Oct. 19 for a report of a collision with injuries.

Upon arrival, officers found two people, later identified as 38-year-old Bobby Moreno and 40-year-old Cruz Moreno, deceased at the scene.

Through the initial investigation, it appears that Bobby and Cruz were traveling southbound in a vehicle along with 20-year-old Brianna Arredondo.

Initial reports indicate that Bobby and Cruz got into a verbal altercation, at which time Cruz and Arredondo got out of the vehicle and started walking in the roadway. Then they were hit by a jeep also traveling south.

After the initial collision, Bobby also got out of the vehicle to check on the victims, at which point he and Cruz were struck by a pickup truck, also in the southbound lanes.

Arredondo suffered minor injuries in the first collision and was transported to University Medical Center by private vehicle.

The investigation continues.
