LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) – Tonight, seven plaques were unveiled at a new memorial at LPD headquarters, representing seven officers who died in the line of duty.
There was a similar memorial in the old department building. These plaques were collected this evening by the families of these fallen officers.
Lubbock Police Chief Seth Herman says this memorial reminds everyone of the men, women and families who serve every day.
“It is truly an honor to participate in this ceremony,” Herman said. “You know, it’s heartbreaking to see the families of these men because they’re the ones who really paid the ultimate sacrifice. But it’s also heartwarming to know that we still have men and women who are willing to lay down their lives for others they don’t know.
Those wishing to pay their respects and salute the seven fallen officers, the memorial, as mentioned, is at LPD headquarters located near 15th Street and Ave. K.
