Lubbock, Texas (KCBD) – Lubbock ISD Smith Elementary Director sent a message to the school’s families on Wednesday night about the arrest of the 29 -year -old Stephen Fur, for whom the Ministry of Justice said comments on a blog site threatening a school shooting. They were told to the families, at no point there was no direct threat that required additional safety measures.
Prosecutors said he made comments including “thinking about going out and buying a gun” as well as “When you are in Texas, shoot [expletive] [expletive] Am I right? Good thing I live until elementary school. “
Authorities said he had made statements that he had a gun and posted: “It will be fun to shoot a legal school” and “I can already smell blood.”
Furr was arrested on Monday night, February 3, following opposition to Swat on the 90th street near Avenue Abbeville.
According to the federal authorities, the FBI was misled on Sunday for the comments he made. ISD Lubbock spokesman tells KCBD that it was first notified on Sunday about the FBI tips during Lubbock’s police station and again on Monday when an FBI agent spoke with a member of the Lubbock ISD police station.
Lubbock ISD maintains its proper communication processes with various law enforcement agencies, as well as safety protocols have been followed and working.
Furr’s lawyer filed a request to the federal court on Wednesday night, requested by Furr, to undergo a psychiatric and/or psychological exam.
