LSU women’s basketball opens with 95-44 win over Eastern Kentucky – WBRZ

BATON ROUGE – The LSU women’s basketball team had no problems in its season opener Monday night against Eastern Kentucky, cruising to a 95-44 victory behind four Tigers in double figures.

Flau’J Johnson led the Tigers with 25 points on 10-of-15 shooting from the floor in 34 minutes of action. Aneesah Morrow followed with 20 points on 9-of-11 shooting, with Mikaylah Williams scoring 18 and Sa’Myah Smith adding 15 points and 11 rebounds in her first real action since returning from a season-ending injury last year.

The Tigers shot 58.5 percent from the floor, scored 21 points or more in each quarter and led 48-24 at halftime.

LSU was five of eleven from behind the arc, but controlled nearly every facet of the game while holding the visiting Colonels to just 26% from the floor.

LSU returns to action on Friday when the Tigers host Northwestern St. at the Maravich Center at 7 p.m.
