LPD talks about a second murder of 2025 – KGNS

Laredo, Texas (KGNS) – A man accused of Laredo’s second murder of 2025 remains behind bars as investigators continue to collect what led to fatal firing together.

A makeshift memorial with candles and flowers now honors the memory of Angel Morales, the 31-year-old, who was identified as a victim of Laredo’s second murder.

According to Jose Espinosis of the Larendo Police Department, the incident was reported on Sunday, February 9, at about 3:30 on the 200 block of East Sonders.

He added: “Investigators are currently working on this case of murder and are trying to find reasons for this because of this murder.”

When paramedics arrived, they found Morales with a firearm in the head and were declared dead at the scene.

Less than 12 hours after the shooting, detectives with crimes against the Persons Department found some evidence, including the pistol that was said to have been used in the case and they were able to find an interest.

Espinosis said: “There is an arrest committed by Albert Cantou, at the age of 28, who was responsible for killing a 31-year-old victim of men.”

People who live near the area of ​​the incident told KGNS outside the camera that, although saddened by death, they are not shocked because they say they usually see suspicious activities in their area.

“Officers are still investigating this murder, it happened to a business, so they talk to possible witnesses or other people who may have seen the appearance of this murder,” Espinosis said.
