LPD opposition becomes a murder investigation – KGNS

Larendo, Texas (KGNS) -Larga Vista’s Resiers were confronted with a hectic night while police and Swat worked to persuade a man barricaded at his home to come out.

Initially, Police in Laredo described the situation as a low risk, but minutes after the man became involved and the police searched the home, a dead woman was found.

The woman was identified as a 24-year-old Vanessa Rodriguez by police in Larendo, located in the home, located on a 300 block of Largavista Dr.

This is the same home where 42-year-old Martin Ramirez had barricaded himself for more than eight hours. Santiago Garcia, a person who lives in Larga Vista, says the authorities have flooded the neighborhood.

“We couldn’t even enter the neighborhood. We had to park away and go here because they would not let anyone go. We thought it was someone who barricaded himself there, but we didn’t know. There were many people there. “

Hours later, Garcia remains shocked, mentioning: “Nothing like this has ever happened here. Something like this, here? I didn’t expect it. We didn’t even know that someone had died there. ”

Joe Baesa with Larendo police said the investigation began around 5pm on Thursday, February 13, when one made concern about the welfare of a woman. On the basis of the information provided, the investigators searched the neighborhood.

“The victim’s car was around the corner and they found the car, but it was empty. This particular house where they went to the 300 block of Larga Vista, the man does not cooperate and at one point he turned barricades in the house, “Baesa said.

Police said at that time they were sure whether Rodriguez was inside the house or held hostages somewhere else.

Baesa added: “At one point in the evening, he opened the door to the home, and the Swat operators who were out, saw that the man was armed with a gun.”

He states that at this point the investigation has reached a different level. Neighbors told KNGS that police told them to stay in their homes as the man was armed.

The stand continued until 1 in the morning on Friday, February 14, until SWAT decides to break the home after consulting the negotiators.

“They went ahead and broke the home using a Swat robot to get inside and look for the different areas of the house for room. He finally found the individual, “Baesa recalls.

Ramirez quickly surrendered, and it was after the search order that the police found Rodriguez in one of the rooms.

Ramirez was then arrested for murder with the police, believing that he and the victim knew each other. The investigation remains in the early stages and no cause of death has yet been released.

Police said they would not provide more details about the state that the victim was found in order not to endanger the investigation.
