LPD investigates the second death in Lubbock State supported at the Life Center – KCBD

Lubbock, TX (KCBD) – Lubbock police are already investigating a second death at the State Life Center.

Employees say a resident was attacked on Monday, eight months after another report left someone else dead.

Police claim to have been called to the facility at North University at about 2:15 pm.

The main crime unit reports that a resident was attacked and died of their injuries on Friday. This person’s name is not published.

We have reported another lethal attack against a resident in the same facility in June.

Detectives say that 53-year-old Paul Reed, a resident of disabilities, has been attacked and left with severe brain bleeding. He died three days later.

Two employees were then arrested and charged with Reed’s attack.

Derrick Bell is accused of intentional injury to a disabled person. Police say he is the one who hit Reed with a shoe.

Natalie Betancurt is accused of injuring a disabled person. Investigators believe she helped Bell cover up the attack.
