A Louisiana inmate was accidentally dropped off at a Baton Rouge bus station. East Carroll Parish officials transported other inmates to be released at the bus station; however, East Baton Rouge District Attorney Hilary Moore is unsure how or why inmate Christopher Davis was included in this transport.

Christopher Davis was arrested in January 2023. on charges of shooting a man during an argument on Edwin Street. He was not scheduled to be transported until his March 17 court date, according to WBRZ.
Moore is not sure why he was transported so early, a full two months before his court appearance. The East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Office and the district attorney were not informed that Davis had been transported until authorities in East Carroll Parish notified them of the error.
“Why did you even release it? You’re all telling us he shouldn’t have been released but he was released, you made a big hiccup,” said a Davis family member. “When your protocol is to get the van and drive [him] in EBR Parish Prison and the prison releases [him]but let you [him] from the bus station, he didn’t run away, you all let him go.”
Davis was taken into custody overnight Sunday, according to officials at the East Baton Rouge Parish Jail.
