Obituary

Lois Spence Walton was called home to be with the Lord on January 9, 2025, after an extended period of illness. Now in peace she has entered into perfect rest and the ultimate gift of eternal life.

Lois was educated in the Norfolk Public School System and was a longtime resident of the Hampton Roads area. After graduating high school, she completed a nurse’s aide program and worked at Norfolk General Hospital for several years. She quit her job to follow her husband, who was in the Marine Corps, and devoted her life to being a full-time homemaker, loving mother, and military wife. Lois was a faithful member and supporter of Bethlehem Church of God in Christ where she served in various capacities until her declining health prevented her involvement.

Lois was preceded in death by her parents, Elder Joe Ream Spence and Nettie Parker Spence, two sisters, Shirley Spence Saunders and Elmira Christine Spence Boyce and one brother, Clinton Spence. She is survived by her husband, James K. Walton, two sons, Troy A. Walton and Christopher K. Walton, one grandson, Logan Walton, one brother, Elder Joseph R. Spence, Charlotte Richardson and one daughter-in-law Antionette Spence; 23 nieces and nephews, 52 great nieces and nephews and numerous cousins ​​and friends. She will be missed by all whose hearts she touched and inspired.

A viewing will be held on Friday, January 31, 2025, from 5 to 7 p.m. At Pretlow and Sons Funeral Home, Chesapeake. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. At St. Stephens Church of God in Christ, 189 S. Birdneck Road, Virginia Beach. Interment will be in the Albert G. Horton, Jr., Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Suffolk.
