A local Lubbock restaurant specializing in Chicago-style pizza, wings and burgers will close tomorrow (November 1, 2024) after nine years in business.
Woody’s Pizza, Grill & Pub (3135 34th St) announced the closure on its Facebook page, citing rising operating costs and “a few personal bad decisions” as the reasons it was called to leave.
Rising food prices, utilities, the cost of doing business is up 300 to 400% from what it was 4 years ago. We’ve reached the end of Woodys. I personally made a few bad decisions trying to open the slide location. We cannot come back from the financial strain.
This is three weeks after sister concept, Woody’s Burger Barn (10007 Slide Rd)quietly closed, according to comments left on the same post.

The owner thanked Lubbock for 9 years of support and also offered an opportunity to anyone who might struggle with the restaurant business:
If you are looking to have your own place, send me a message. Landlords are willing to let someone take over the rent. So it will be a turnkey restaurant. Email me if you are interested in opening your own place.
This could present a great opportunity for the food truck to move into practice, an expansion location, or an entirely new concept.

Unfortunately, a business in the same shopping center as Woody’s also closed recently and suddenly. Frost Brewhouse closed in early October.
Fortunately, the award-winning Vizo’s is still there, offering unique cuisine on 34th Street.
We always hate to see local businesses throw in the towel, but we still wish the owners and employees well in their new endeavors.
