West Brattleboro, VT. – “Field Notes”, a stand -alone show featuring the latest works by Cambridgeport artist Melissa Rubin, will be displayed at the CX Silver Gallery, 814 Western Avenue, in Western Bust, from January 17 – May 25. On Saturday, an opening admission was held on Saturday, January 18, at 1:00 pm talking conversations with the participation of Melissa Rubin in a conversation with Amy Beaner will be held on Saturday, March 15, at 1:00 pm.

“Field Notes” consists of visual notions referring to the dungeon, the world under the shade of trees, which intensifies with life, decay, the delicate balance in the game and the fragility of the natural environment. It is a meditative, emotional and fine study that hints at the entangled, interconnected trees of trees, branches, flowing springs, endless night sky and wildlife that call it at home. The raw materials that Melissa Rubin meet is a deep inspiration for her images and an approach to her art. The many layers of papers, paints and various organic materials such as wax, marble dust, carbon, silver and clay are challenging for the forest pads and the interconnectedness of the wild surroundings. The underground, in a literary sense, is the architecture it submits, makes sense and supports history. In this regard, Melissa’s work reflects the expansive, psychological experience of the story that the natural world reveals. Exploring the terrain and its impact on its connection to the environment, it creates visual references to textures, branches, decay and growth, all woven together to form a depiction of its outer and internal landscape. The media she uses function as her personal dictionary of expression, as proxy for emotional states of mind. Melissa deliberately works with materials that help to facilitate the feeling of light, darkness, mystery and instability.
