Live @ 11:30: Municipal Councilors Discuss the Brockhouse’s Collection Before Votal Excess – Dakota News Now

Sioux Falls, SD (Dakota News now) – Sioux Falls municipal councilors are holding a press conference on Tuesday to discuss the proposed collection by BroCHouse, submitted to the University of Notre Dam.

Advisers Miranda Bassie and Richard Tomson will take questions from the media. Watch live stream at a press conference in the video player in the beginning of 11:30 am.

The Great Plains Zoo announced in August 2023 that the Delbridge Museum of Natural History, which houses the Brockhouse collection, will be closed. The discovery of arsenic of some of the taxidermia was cited as a reason for the closure.

Despite the advocacy groups to maintain the collection together at Sioux Falls, the application process has led to the recommendation that the bigger part of the collection will go to the University of Notre Dame with less sums that go to institutions in Georgia and New Jersey S Installation will be gifted, not sold to organizations.

Henry Brockhouse’s Rare Taxo -Diedy Collection was purchased by CJ Delbridge and donated to the city by the Delbridge family. Last week, Delbridge’s family gave his blessing for the collection to be moved.

Municipal councilors will vote on Tuesday night to define the collection as a surplus, which would allow the mountains to be moved.
