Tallahasee, Florida (WCTV) – Community driving was held on Friday to collect delivery supplies for people in Talahasi for people who may not afford them.
Nearly a dozen groups in the capital, including organizations at Florida State University, Florida A&M University and Tallahasesee State College, have collected menstrual consumables in a donation called “full truck”.
It was the culmination of a one-month initiative to collect products from the period for menstruation of people in need and to end the stigma around the periods, according to a press release from the Talahasi-Leon County Commission on the condition of women and girls.
“Menstruation is still associated with shame and embarrassment in many communities. This stigma prevents men from discussing their needs openly and preventing them from seeking help or solutions, “the press said. “This aspiration across the country aims to normalize conversation around periods and menstrual health.”
The people stopped by the parking lot of the Episcopal Church of St. John, in the center of Talahasi on Friday to help fill a trailer with tampons, pads, lingerie, menstrual glasses and other items to try to loot the cost of These monthly products.

Organizer Daniel Dosier from the Oasis Women and Girls Center said the event aims to help ease the financial burden of buying these products.
“Especially if you are a single mother, you have several girls, children … something like that. Menstrual products are getting as expensive and it can really be like sometimes putting dinner on the plate one night or buying a box with tampons, so we try to change that, “Dosier said.
The organizers of the events said they would soon distribute distribution donations throughout the community. This date has not yet been set.
