Topeka, Kan. (WIBW) – a ban on the affirmation of gender for minors will become a law, with MPs voting in both chambers on Tuesday to cancel the veto of Laura Kelly Governor of the Law of Non -harm.
The Senate voted 31-9 to cancel the veto on Tuesday, February 18.
Kansas’s house voted a little later, receiving the right 84 votes to obtain the necessary majority of two-thirds.
The Senate Bill 63 (SB 63) prohibits the gender care for children under 18 years of age.
Governor Kelly vetoed the measure on Tuesday, February 11th. The governor released a statement on February 11, after her veto of the bill:
Governor Kelly sent the following message about the veto of SB 63:
“Currently, the legislature must be focused on ways to help Kanzanns deal with rising prices. This is the most important question about Kanzanas. That’s where my focus is.
“Parental violation is not appropriate, nor is the value of Kansas. As I said before, it is not the job of politicians to stand between a parent and a child who needs medical care of all kinds. This legislation will also bring out families, businesses and healthcare workers from our country, suffocating our economy and exacerbating the problem of labor shortages.
“It is disappointing that the legislature continues to insist on the intervention of the government in Kanzans’ private medical decisions instead of focusing on issues that improve the entire life of Kansani.
“Therefore, according to Article 2, Section 14 (a) of the Constitution, I was a veto of the Senate 63.”
