League One Mansfield Town 1 Birmingham City 1 Final – BBC.com

Mansfield fought back to earn a deserved home tie against League One leaders Birmingham.

Willem Willemsson gave the Blues an early lead but a Lee Gregory free-kick kept the five-point gap between the two promotion hopes.

The Blues scored in the 10th minute when Keshi Anderson got to the left touchline and flicked a low cross back into the path of Williamson, who buried a 12-yard finish.

Williamson almost doubled his tally after 25 minutes, but home goalkeeper Christy Pym blocked his shot after giving the ball away with a failed pass from the front post.

Birmingham dominated possession but most of their efforts came from distance with Paik Seung-ho’s ferocious strike going just inches wide before the break.

Lyndon Dykes sent a diving header past Pym just after the break from a superb Anderson cross.

But Mansfield equalized when, in the 63rd minute, Gregory drilled a free-kick over the wall and into the near post from just outside the box.

Trying to deny Anderson two minutes later, Mansfield defender Aden Flint played the ball against his own post and Dykes somehow curled the follow-up shot wide of the gaping goal.

Stephen McLaughlin forced two fine saves from Birmingham keeper Ryan Allsop in as many minutes before the Stags comfortably absorbed a late strike from the visitors.
