Leaf 2025: A better life for women and children – Newsbreak

Kansas Liszt (a legislative event for advocacy in faith) is a universal event for people of all religions. It is encouraged by the Big Plains Conference of United Women in Faith and Church Women United.

The event in 2025 will be held on February 16 and 17 at the First United Methodist Church, 600 SW Topeka Blvd, Topeka, Kansas.

The program on Monday includes:
7:30 am – Light snack (optional) available
8-9: 00 – Collection and registration
9 am
12:15 pm – Lunch with legislators
1:15 – 15:00 – Workshops with small groups

Our mission is the belief that ordinary citizens can act on behalf of disadvantaged, as well as laws only. We act on the assumption that the living of the grace of God means, at least in part, to fight for justice for those oppressed or in need whose voices remain unheard.

The goals we hope to achieve with this event are to learn how Kansas’s legislative issues affect the lives of women and children and how these issues are resolved by our legislators. Seminars will be available to provide information on how we can contact our representatives to bring our concerns to their desks. All legislators are invited to attend lunch on Monday.

The topic of this year’s event is: a better life for women and children

The Scripture Theme is Matthew 25: 44-45:

“They will also answer,” Lord, when we saw you hungry or thirsty or strangers or need clothes or sick or in prison; And it didn’t help you? ”

“He will answer,” I really tell you, whatever you have not done as one of the smallest of them, you have not done for me. ” ”

Please register online until February 4.

Registration fees: no required registration fee required; However, there is a proposed contribution of $ 16.50 to cover the estimated price of your lunch.
