BATON ROUGE — The 2024 duck hunting season opens Saturday with a youth-only hunt in the western half of the state before the season’s first split begins Nov. 16, the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries announced Monday.
The East Zone youth and veterans-only hunt will also be held on November 9 before the first division of the season begins. Click here for more information on the seasons of both zones.
LDWF said all waterfowl hunters 16 and older, even those not otherwise required to purchase a license, must have a federal duck stamp to hunt during the season.
Those 18 and older who hunt ducks must have a basic hunting license and be certified under the Harvest Information Program, LDWF added. Those under 17 do not need a hunting license or duck hunting certificate. You can buy a hunting ticket here.
