SAMPSON COUNTY, N.C. (WTVD) — Law enforcement officials are expected to provide an update on charges and arrests related to the October 2023 fifth-degree murder in Clinton.
During the press conference, it was announced that Robert Williams and Derek George were charged in the case and are now facing drug and robbery charges.
On November 9, 2023, Williams was arrested for violating his probation, but now faces charges related to the murders. Georgi was arrested after the accusation.
If convicted, Williams and George could face the death penalty.
When Sampson County deputies arrived at the scene, they found the bodies of people between the ages of 33 and 73. They were all found in different rooms of the home.
The crime scene is in Clinton off Garland Highway.
Investigators said they believe the shooting was targeted, but did not provide other details about what connected the victims or what led to the shooting at the time.
Among those killed were Alfonza Jeffers (73), Dagoberto Lopez (33), Hector Salazar Lopez (39), Lamar Williams (58) and Jamie Lynn Rowland (aka Jamie Thompson) (47).
There is still reward money in this case and anyone with information is asked to contact law enforcement.
