TOPEKA (KSNT)— On Monday, November 4th, the parking lot of the Shawnee County Elections Office was packed with last minute early voters.
Early voters had until noon to vote. Workers were directing traffic in the parking lot to ensure everything ran smoothly.
Last week, the Shawnee County Elections Office broke previous records for early voting, saying more than 25,000 people voted early. 27 News reached out to the Elections Office for an update on early voting.
Shawnee County Election Commissioner Andrew Howell says his office typically sees a roughly 75 percent voter turnout during election years.
“It might be a little bit higher,” Howell said. “But it’s really hard to tell if this early voting is just people wanting to move and have it happen early.” This would already be voted on at the polls. So, I don’t know that I’m convinced that that will translate to Election Day. It’s hard to say. I mean, I just don’t know.

Howell also says they’ve printed more than enough ballots and are prepared for Election Day. Polling stations open at 7am on November 5 and close at 7pm
