Las Vegas Rebrandi dei initiative against Trump’s repression on federal programs – Las Vegas Review -journal

Anyone looking for the Internet for the diversity, justice and the inclusion of the city of Las Vegas – or Dei – instead will meet a page with an error message that reads “Page cannot be found.”

As President Donald Trump’s administration follows its promise to have a Dei government -based government -up -to -date campaign, Las Vegas’s city told the review that it was rebranding its former DEI program.

The new program, which the spokesman said on Wednesday, was taken on the “long before the end” of 2024, will be called inclusion and belonging, according to a city spokesman. The spokesman did not confirm whether the decision was made before Trump’s victory on the day of the election.

The internet archive return machine shows that the web page is live at the end of September. “The city of Las Vegas is working to improve the well-being of all Las Vegans through diversity, justice and inclusion,” said earlier.

“We know that people have many pre -created ideas about what DEI is or not,” says David Rigglaman, Director of Communications of Las Vegas, in an email. “By renaming the inclusion and belonging program, we can better determine what this effort means to our purposes.”

Long criticized by Trump

The initiatives of DEI have long been criticized by Trump, who has called for the end of programs in state institutions while running for president.

The programs also fled when, following the decision of the US Supreme Court in June 2023, it ended affirmative actions in the admission of colleges, the conservative groups filed court cases preparing similar arguments for the variety of corporation programs.

When Trump took office in January, he signed an enforcement order to remove DEI programs in executive departments and put Federal employees of DEI on immediate leave in anticipation of removal.

Riggleman said the city of Las Vegas is still working to develop the specifics of the program with the goal of creating a “strong environment in the workplace where everyone feels that their perspectives are appreciated.”

He added that he hoped the change of the name “eliminated any prejudice and false understandings” for the program.

Other cities and district

The Handerson website hosts a page for diversity and inclusion, which states that the city “welcomes the contribution of all individuals to our community and believes in equal treatment and inclusion for all.”

“We are currently not planning changes to our current programs,” says Justin Emerson, a public information employee of Henderson.

Until the city of North Las Vegas immediately answered questions whether it plans to maintain its program, the city still has its Dei web page live online.

Clark County has a diversity office department, which a spokesman said he was previously called an equal employment service several years ago.

“The Diversity Service is focused on compliance with the State and Federal Law,” says Jennifer Cooper, Chief Communication and County Strategies.
