Las Vegas City announces freezing after Badlands village – FOX 5 Las Vegas

Las Vegas, Nev. (FOX5) – The city of Las Vegas will apply the rental of freezing by multiple departments after arranging the legal battle of Badlands.

The city’s deputy manager Sabra Newby made the announcement to the Nevada Government Committee in Nevada on Thursday.

Badlands Golf Club is in Alta and Rampart in Las Vegas. In 2015, an entrepreneur bought the land to build homes. And the city granted land rights, but did not approve of zoning.

The entrepreneur filed four different lawsuits claiming that the city’s inaction made the land useless. The courts agree. The city settled last year.

Newby said the city would pay $ 250 million, but it would have to save money and reduce costs by freezing.

“As people leave, we identify whether these positions need to be filled,” Newby told the committee. “Public safety is not in this freezing. It is a priority for us that the positions of public safety are not frozen. But all other positions are considered strongly and most likely they will be frozen. “

The city has nearly 3,900 employees. More than 1500 of them are public safety staff. The freezing is expected to continue for two years.
