Lubbock, Texas (KCBD) – If this week you enjoy the frivolous warm temperatures, do not become too comfortable, big changes are on the way.

The Saturday peak climbed into the above 70s and even low 80s in some places, but this heat will not stick much longer.

A strong cold front is ready to pass through the region on Saturday afternoon, bringing a sharp drop in temperatures and sets the scene for a much worse week ahead.

Fiery meteorological problems today: before the cold air is established, fire weather conditions will be a problem in parts of the southern plains. With dry air and warm temperatures, some areas may see an increased risk of fire. However, the winds are expected to remain on the more light country, which means that the threat of fire should remain localized, not widespread.

By this evening, temperatures will take the nose, with low levels falling in the 20th and 30s throughout the region.

And after this more cool air comes, it sticks. The high in the first half of next week will struggle to come out to the 40th, with temperatures overnight for freezing.
