Laredo, Texas (KGNS) – A new order from the Trump administration has removed the policy of the Biden era, which prevented immigration officers from arriving near sensitive areas such as schools.

A resident and parent of Laredo, Jesus Perez, shared his thoughts about the possibility of ice agents who enter schools or churches to arrest parents and or students who may be without documents.

The new order is anxious for many students, parents and teachers from all over the country, as well as here in Laredo.
According to United President of United, Havier Montemayor, “there is a lot of concern for students. They ask, “Will it happen?, Will the school be attacked? And will I be deported?
Montemayor says that while the area plans to execute all immigration orders that may arise, he assures that the students are protected under the Federal Law.
Adding: “The Supreme Court has always guaranteed that the child’s education, regardless of immigration, status before K to 12th grade. We will work this way, unless you have a summons or a valid court order, we will not release any information. “
As of January 28, there are no reports of ICE officials who go to schools in Laredo. Both schools, Larendo and United ISD say they have provided guidance to teachers if ICE employees have to enter their campus.
In a statement sent to KGNS by LISD, the area advised parents that they would inform their parents of any developments.
At the UISD public commitment specialist Brenda Medina Moreno assures parents and students that the area is available to help.

While uncertainty remains in future immigration policies, President Trump will impose Larendoan Jesus Perez advises the community to take it a day.
