Larendo celebrates the 127th Abrazo Ceremony – KGNS

The 127th Abrazo ceremony took place on Saturday morning, with the children from Mexico and the United States found in international borderlines for hugging. The event arrives shortly after President Trump ended his first month of service, fulfilling his promises to break into immigration. However, Larendo Dr. Victor Trevino’s mayor states that at the local level, friendship continues. “I think this makes it a little more strong, because despite all the differences in immigration policy,” he said. “Despite all the challenges, we still have the same focus.”

US Congressman Richard Pen Raymond has seen that the ceremony has grown in importance, given the current policy. But he says, “The United States and Mexico have a great future ahead of us.” Raymond adds that the event gives both sides a chance to descend what he described as “weaknesses.” “We know there are some immigration problems that need to be addressed, and I think it will happen,” he said. “I hope we can do it the right way and I think we’ll do it. But, I think those of us here at the border play a major role. ”

The chief Jesse Munoz, for the Larendo Border Patrol sector, describes that within their 25 years working in regional communication across the border remains strong. “We have direct communications with our partners … With law enforcement and the military in Mexico, when these events happen, we are able to talk directly to them in real time,” he said. As for Juan Carlos Mendosa, the Mexican Consul General in Laredo, he states that whatever changes happen in the region, all this is part of the norm. “Every time we have a new president in Mexico or the United States, there is a chance to have a difference, it is very cyclical in bilateral relations,” he said. “But I am confident that we will reach an agreement with President Trump and normalize bilateral relations.”
