Laredo police provide trick-or-treating safety tips – KGNS

LAREDO, Texas (KGNS) – Leading up to Halloween, the Laredo Police Department shared some tips for trick-or-treaters.

Laredo Police say it is important that children are always supervised by an adult.

People should also make sure they stay on the sidewalk at all times and avoid crossing between cars when crossing streets.

Although children may be eager to eat their candy, parents should make sure to inspect it beforehand.

Any candy that is not wrapped or appears tampered with should not be eaten or left near children.

Jose Espinosa of the Laredo Police Department talked about other types of problems that can arise, noting, “In other years, we’ve seen kids ride in the bed of a pickup truck and we’ve seen some incidents. So we just want to prevent these incidents and it’s a citationable offense.

Police also recommended that children and adults carry a flashlight with them so they can be visible to others.
